Newsletter 29th January 2018

Monday 29th January 2018

Hello all, and a happy new year! Down at SSC, we kicked January off to a fantastic start with the annual New Year’s Day Swim. Many of our members took to the water and along with activities in the clubhouse and sponsorship, several hundred pounds were raised for the First Responders. This Monday (29th) and Tuesday (30th), we are pleased to welcome Tony, from the First Responders, to the clubhouse for defibrillator training; a defibrillator was installed in the harbour in December. Around 40 club members and locals will be attending sessions at the club to learn how to use it.
During the week lots of training has been going on in the club, burning off those winter calories to get into shape for the spring. The Welsh Yoling Squad have been making use of the club’s facilities to train on the ergs. Furthermore, some of the Saundersfoot Strollers have joined the club and are impressing us with their training. They are aiming to get out onto the water in the spring. The Tenderfoot rowers have also been training in the Regency Hall and continue to grow in strength whilst maintaining their ever positive attitudes.
After a well deserved rest, the Wednesday crew have been back in the Bosun’s Cabin readying the buoys and safety boats for the coming season. Meanwhile the Dinghy group have come up with the programme of events for the year. This includes several sailing courses for beginners as well as for those who wish to progress on the water. Please contact the club if you are interested in finding out more.
Finally, inside the club, a working group have started to have a clear out with a hope to giving the club a fresh coat of paint for the coming season. I will report at the end of February how things are going!

See you next month!
